Wild Hop Brewing Company.
It’s all About the Beer.

Yallingup, Western Australia

2020

Some projects just have the right ingredients. A beautiful site in Yallingup’s hills, passionate clients and a vision that was equal parts quality and good fun. From day one, this brewery was all about the beer. Showing it off, celebrating it and creating the perfect place to drink it.

Brand in Built Form

Wild Hop already had a strong graphic identity. Bold, irreverent and funny. The architecture mirrors that tone. Black cladding, raw timber, local stone and hand-painted murals give the place character. Every sign, surface and stool has a bit of attitude. The result feels more like a creative workshop than a beer factory, where craft, design and beer all get equal respect.

Place, People and Attitude

Wild Hop Brewing Company sits down a dirt track off Wildwood Road, where the bush meets the dam and time slows down. The owners, Ali and Matt, wanted a place that felt unpretentious, open and full of life. A brewpub for locals, families and travellers alike. The design keeps the building honest and robust, letting the landscape and the beer do the talking.

Sustainability by Simplicity

The building was designed to be practical and sustainable without overcomplication. Natural ventilation, solar gain and shading do the work of mechanical systems. Local materials and a tight footprint kept costs and impact low. The best sustainability feature might be the tree itself. The heart of the beer garden that defines the space and brings people together.

Art, Attitude and Collaboration

The visual identity of Wild Hop comes alive through the work of local artist Jaes 777. His bold murals, hand-painted signs and cheeky characters give the brewery its unmistakable personality. Equal parts craft and chaos. From the drunken koala heading to the pub to the layered graffiti textures behind the bar, every piece brings humour and energy to the space. The architecture sets the stage, but the art gives it soul. A nice reminder that good design and good beer both start with creative collaboration.

The Garden as Hero

The pool sits at the heart of the site, framed by native planting and reclaimed brick paving. By using an external moat instead of a conventional fence, the pool merges seamlessly with the garden. It feels open, safe and relaxed, just as a Fremantle garden should. The slender bridge link between houses ties the two properties together without crowding them, keeping airflow, light and privacy intact.

Built for Good Times

Wild Hop is a family-owned brewery that captures what makes the southwest of Australia special. Relaxed, creative, and quietly independent. From the food to the art to the ever-changing taps, it is a place built for enjoyment. The design just gives that spirit a home.
